Christmas is a special time of year for Christians all over the world. Here in Zambia, the Flying Mission Zambia family shared their Christmas joy with the 'Rainbow Kids'. 180 local children raced to the hangar to see what was being prepared. They were very full of anticipation as they arrived on a wet Christmas Eve, leaving their shoes at the entrance.
This year the programme was different as it was a team effort, with Flying Mission missionaries, their families and even their visitors all taking part. Some painted the scenery – the storage container which sits on the new hangar base. Others acted out the story. Still others baked biscuits, narrated the story to the children, took pictures. Charles, worship leader from the local Assemblies of God church, came to lead singing and Jojo translated for us all. We’ll let the pictures tell it:
Whilst Charles continued to lead the children in worship songs, we took groups of children to the gate to receive presents – mostly items sent from USA and UK in container or boxes. Each child received an item of clothing or a pair of shoes, a pencil, a Christmas cookie and a Christmas star with a message. Matching up the clothing is always a challenge but we managed it. Children were happy. We were too.
Pray for these children that Jesus will become more real to them as they come each week to Chilongolo for worship singing, Bible teaching, praying, playing and learning how to care for one another.
